You have the ability to free yourself. All too often we hold ourselves captive and we blame satan for our captivity. You have the key yet you allow yourself to remain behind bars. It’s like being in prison and the guard gives you the key and says you can now free yourself and you do not. Fear grips us into a place of stagnancy. We become complacent and being comfortable in our dysfunction. Our thoughts hold us captive.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
"Take every thought captive to obey Christ". This verse is often interpreted as a call to fight against thoughts that are not obedient to Christ.
Why do we not do it? It’s because fear has taken a hold of your mindset. The Bible says we have power and authority yet we don’t use it. You can do nothing in your own strength, but when you call upon the name of Jesus, the Bible tells us He comes to our rescue. Yet whenever we are going through things, we either keep ourselves in depression, we close people out or we reach out to the wrong people seeking answers to fulfill the moment.
What happened with really calling upon the name of Jesus? When you read the word of God, do you truly believe what you are reading? Because if you truly did you would not remain in the position you may be in. You truly do have a choice, either to follow or to do it your way. There comes a point where you will say enough is enough. I have always said that God is a god of enough. If you were not to be, we would’ve never faced a flood.
The key is literally yours. It’s in your hand. All you have to do is reach out for it. Stop allowing your thoughts to keep you captive. Speak to your thoughts, tell your thoughts. This is the moment where you will set yourself free. The time is NOW. Do not go into the new year in captivity.
