Ahhhhh, how easy it is to speak scripture and sayings to people, yet very difficult for us to live it out. How beautiful it is to sing praises and not fully understand what you are singing. Why is it so hard for us to apply and act out what we sing, preach, say, read etc...It's so important you not only read but apply. Wait...isn't that in scripture?
Yes, it is. James 1:22
22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
What good is it, that you preach it, but don't live it? You treat another individual better than you treat your spouse? You worship and sing the songs, but you don't apply it? My heart aches, because I see it, and I saw it in myself. I would sing and not even pay attention to the words. I would read and not fully apply. LOVE the greatest commandment, yet I was hurting people with my mouth. JOY! in front of people, yet I was dying with bitterness on the inside. Who was I fooling?
God sees all. How are we more afraid of man than we are of God. How do we feel it's ok to hide from man, yet God sees all? I promise I'm not poking the finger. I have been there. The other night I was worried, fell asleep thinking of things that made no sense, I woke up mid night and heard the Lord say "You are suffering, like someone who doesn't have me in there heart" Why? My worry stopped, He was right. Why am I worrying? I have Jesus, and doesn't He tell us not to worry? not to be anxious?
Philippians 4:6
"6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done."
Today take a moment to reflect, and repent. Start over with God. He's waiting.
