Overthinking can get the best of me some days. I can admit, yes… there are moments I overthink. Sometimes it keeps me from falling asleep. Sometimes it keeps me in deep thought throughout the day. It’s normal to have thoughts throughout the day, what is not normal is consuming yourself in thought to the point you are stressed. There are healthy thoughts and not so healthy thoughts.
An unhealthy thought can possibly keep you stuck. Stuck in the past, and now you are thinking could this possibly happen to me again? Or perhaps your thought is “Lord I have a million ideas, how do I begin?” Whatever your thought is, know that God can handle and will handle it. Overthinking takes place when we feel we can handle it, you are now coming up with strategies and ways to make it happen or not happen.
Give your thoughts to the Lord. The Bible tells us to take every thought captive.
2 Corinthians 10:5
5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
So why are we holding onto it? Why do we allow ourselves to overthink? Break free from overthinking by first releasing the thought, knowing we have no real control. God won’t let you drown.
