In a world that encourages instant gratification, waiting can feel uncomfortable—especially when it comes to love and marriage. For many single women, the desire for companionship is real and God-given. Yet there is something powerful about trusting God’s timing rather than rushing ahead of His plan.
Waiting is not wasted time. It is preparation time.
During seasons of singleness, God often does some of His deepest work in our hearts. He strengthens our faith, heals old wounds, develops our character, and teaches us to find our identity in Him rather than in a relationship. The woman who learns to be whole in Christ before marriage enters a relationship from a place of strength rather than need.
The wait also protects us from settling. Loneliness can tempt us to accept relationships that do not align with God’s best. When we become impatient, we may overlook red flags, compromise our values, or pursue someone who is not prepared to lead, love, and honor us as God intended. Waiting allows us to discern wisely and trust that God’s plans are greater than our emotions in the moment.
Remember, God’s delays are not God’s denials. What feels like a long season may actually be God aligning the right people, circumstances, and timing for your future. Just as a farmer does not harvest immediately after planting a seed, God’s promises often require patience before they come to fruition.
Use this season wisely. Grow in your relationship with Christ. Pursue your purpose. Serve others. Build healthy friendships. Discover who God created you to be. The right relationship should complement the life God is building in you, not complete what only He can complete.
Psalm 27:14 reminds us, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Waiting is not passive; it is active trust. It is believing that God sees the desires of your heart and is faithful to fulfill His promises in His perfect way and timing.
If you are a single woman praying for marriage, be encouraged: your story is still being written. The waiting season may not always be easy, but it is producing something beautiful within you. Trust God with your future, guard your heart, and continue becoming the woman He has called you to be.
The wait is worth it because God’s best is always worth waiting for.
